La Fete des Fruits et Légumes

Every year they board the fountain up in Place Carnot, Carcassonne and set out a wonderful display of fruit and vegetables. The birds were somewhat confused as to where their supply of water had gone! However, they definitely had there beady eyes on the fruit! I wouldn't like to be the nightwatchman tonight...could be a re-enactment of Hitchcock's 'The Birds'!! Hoping for another hot day tomorrow. At four o clock they sell off all the fruit and vegetables and the proceeds go to cancer research.
A very fruity fountain!

Whose a pretty boy then!

Now where do you think she is going to put them!

I am hoping they are going to take the labels off...spoils the display somewhat!

Oh look!... the fountain has sprung a leek or two!!:-))

Oranges and lemons peel the Bells of St Clements.

Going bananas!

I will let you know tomorrow what the missing fruit is.....strawberries, cherries? I think it will be something that the birds might like and they are not taking any chances! Either that or they ran out of fruit!
Beautiful sculptures of...Artichoke's!!

Wherefore art thou!

Come again soon Selena...loads still to do!

The sun has got his hat on...and so has everyone else!

I had to start with the cutest!

They came a close second!
Ooh la la...very french ...no onions tho!

This is my favourite...beautifully crafted. He looked the part too!

With a funnel to let off steam:-)

Well, what can one say...where's the corks perhaps!!

Very sporty. I bet she has a barge on the Canal du Midi.

A bit battered but doing its job. The hat I mean!

What style!

How did she get in!!

She's nicked that one off a Womble!

...and him!

Anna in a bandana.

Very elegant but perhaps a tad warm!

Another cutey pie.

Potty about their hats.

Yes, we know you don't like wearing hats!
Hmmm!

Mum could take some advice from her daughter here I think!

It's the lady who makes the ceramic fairies which you will see further down the page.

Very nice...which is more than I can say for the last one!

There's always one and he is it! Would make a good hanging basket liner...still it's doing the job even if he doesn't look très chic!
