Packing for my return to rainy England!

Monday 27 October 2008

A Sunday afternoon in Carcassonne

We decided to go down the Canal Midi towards Toulouse on 'Le Bateau' from Carcassonne as it was such a glorious sunny day and the river trips stop on Thursday! Just as we set off we looked up and saw the afternoon 'Ryanair' flight coming in bringing a friend of ours...it was 'Ty in the sky with sunshine'!!:-))

The plaque is displayed above the door of the Lock Keeper's house. It tells you the distance between the locks. We travelled aprox 10km and the highest speed they are allowed is 8km per hours, otherwise they will cause 'bow waves' which will cause erosion damage to the banks.

A lazy sunny Sunday on the Canal Midi.

'Wake up sleepy heads, look what you are missing!' - alas, the gentle rocking of the boat was just too much for some of the passengers!

I know its just a bit of old rope but I like the composition!

A mystery house...must investigate on my return!
I want one!! Now!!
Tranquility along the banks of the Canal Midi.

Well, until this chap came along and started singing!!...
......and a chorus of ducks!
On our way home I took a few videos which I had hoped to publish but the software doesn't allow it unless it is on something like 'YouTube' - so will publish later! Bet you can't wait!!

Back to the sunny square of Place Carnot and a well earned beer!

Sitting outside Brasserie Des Platanes - as if you couldn't read!!! Cheers - Salut!

A Sunday morning at Chignal Smealey

A Morning ride on Gina & Opal. Cheer up Graham, it's bound to happen!!
Equestrian event later that afternoon.
Naughty Fergus!

And through the Garden gate we go.......
Lots of lovely pinks and purples!

Supper!!
Could have sworn I saw a bird rush by!!...'Fergus, it's behind you!!'

Apple Festival at Hyde Hall an RHS Garden

A glorious day at Hyde Hall RHS Garden, Chelmsford. Stunning autumn colours.
Have you ever seen a carefree bunch of 'Naked Ladies' such as these!
Sadly not a flower in sight - will have to visit next year to see what colours they are - hopefully RED!

A wonderful carpet of 'Winter Pansies'...
...and 'Cyclamen'.

Pumpkins galore!

Well, one would expect to see a few apples at an 'Apple Festival'! So here are just a few of the many varieties!

Wouldn't you just like to try that one in the middle!!
